Workshop: Women, Disability and Violence

This workshop emerged from our ANROWS project with People with Disability Australia (on behalf of Disabled People’s Organisations Australia): a key finding was women with disability were often unable to get needed support due to differences in service approaches.

This workshop offers a self-directed learning tool for organisations. It focuses on the stories of four women, and invites service providers to consider what each says about her support needs and objectives. It provides an opportunity to consider holistic approaches to women’s needs, and to build skills to respond effectively to women with disability. Participant and facilitator material can be used and adapted for local organisational needs. Thanks to those in NSW and Victoria who provided informative feedback on pilot workshops.
