Nilmini Fernando is a feminist scholar and educator specializing in on ‘doing’ (but not undoing) intersectionality through decolonial feminist and critical race perspectives. With a background in women’s mental health, disability and asylum-seeking, Nilmini’s recent work at WIRE focuses on education for family violence practitioners on financial abuse and building women’s financial capabilities in the Purse Project, and research into ‘Financial Teachable Moments’ for women at all stages of their family violence journeys.
