WEAVERS (Women and their children who have Experienced Abuse and Violence: Researchers and advisors), University of Melbourne, Vic
Since 2015, Amanda has been involved as a survivor advocate on a number of projects at the Melbourne Research Alliance to End Violence against women and their children (MAEVe) and Safer Families, including the Experts by Experience Framework. Through this she has co-presented and facilitated at workshops, seminars and conferences such as the inaugural Safer Families CRE international conference.
Amanda was also previously a secondary school teacher, mainly working with ‘at risk’ young people. This professional experience helps her understand the issues facing researchers, practitioners and policymakers when working with survivors of abuse and violence.
