Young people can be harmed by violence in the home, they can be perpetrators and they also have the capacity for positive change —both in overcoming their own experiences of violence and in preventing harm to others. The experiences and voices of young people are at the core of this session. Peer educators from R4Respect, Jennifer Uwineza and Andrew Taukolo, along with researcher Dr. Karen Struthers, outline their work and ANROWS-funded research that examines the impact of peer-peer respectful relationships awareness and education. This session highlights how both response and prevention efforts must be directly informed by the experiences of young people if we’re to make a meaningful difference for the next generation.
